Shore Buddies Wisdom Wednesday

Surprisingly, the stark black and white plumage helps penguins maintain their camouflage. When viewed from above, the black blends into the muddy ocean water. When viewed from below, a predator may confuse their white underbelly as a reflection of the sun on the water. The plumage both protects and gives them an edge when pursuing their prey.
