Ice cream just started to taste so much better
Hey Guys! Finn here,
Another great news today. Everybody talks about how bad plastics are for the environment but only a few do something about the problem. Ben & Jerry’s ice cream company is moving to wooden spoons and paper straws. Last year, the company handed out 2.5 million plastic straws and 30 million plastic spoons. Now, by April 9, 2019, Free Cone Day, Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops will complete the transition to wooden spoons. Paper straws will be available only by request.
But guys, it is not just stopping there. More changes are coming. By the end of 2020, Ben & Jerry’s shops will find an alternative to clear plastic cups, plastic-lined cups, and plastic lids, the company says. We, and the rest of the world, need to get out of single-use plastic,” says Ben & Jerry’s sustainability director Jenna Evans. “In the short term, eliminating plastic straws and spoons is not going to save the world, but it’s a good start toward changing expectations. We’re committed to exploring additional options to further reduce the use of disposable items. This transition is the first step for us on a more comprehensive journey to eliminate single-use, petroleum-based plastic in our supply chain, and we look forward to reporting on our progress.”
I am so excited for this great move. Make sure to support such great initiatives and think twice where you get your ice cream from.
I DOLPHINITELY have a new favorite ice cream!
