Ocean Connectors - Literally connecting our future with Marine Life
We were stoked when we found out about Ocean Connectors and that they are located right here in our own backyard in San Diego, California!
National City, CA
Ocean Connectors was created by founder Frances Kinney to help address environmental education issues in communities of San Diego County and Baja California, Mexico. Each year they reach thousands of school children providing access to parks, safe outdoor recreation, and the coast, which in turn leads to increased environmental awareness and understanding.
Ocean connector's mission is to connect youth to conservation. By using migratory marine life to educate and inspire, they connect underserved students living in Pacific coastal communities of the U.S. and Mexico to the Ocean, Conservation and Marine Life.
Their work makes a big impact by enhancing the overall knowledge of today's youth using case-study migratory marine species to teach about ocean conservation issues and specific principles. Annual program evaluations indicate that participating students and teachers gain environmental knowledge and adopt stewardship behaviors as a direct result of Ocean Connectors. They also make pledges demonstrating their commitment to helping the planet.
In addition to their youth programs, Ocean Connectors also offers public tours. You can book your own Ocean Connectors Eco tour or buy a gift card for a friend to tour the San Diego Bay and learn about local Marine Life.
All proceeds from these Eco Tours support the Ocean Connectors' mission to educate youth about the Ocean, Conservation and Marine Life.
So, if you're still looking for a Holiday Gift idea... ;)
