Which Plastic Bottles Can Be Recycled?
When it comes to recycling plastic bottles, people usually think of water and soda bottles. But there are so many more plastic bottles that make as much or even more of an impact on our oceans and environment. Every time you have an empty water bottle or milk jug, it naturally goes into the recycling bin already? Good!!
However, it does not need to stop there. The kitchen and the bathroom are full with recyclable plastic bottles as well. Your dish detergent, shampoo bottles, body wash bottles, your body lotion and many more items are great recyclables as well. According to Haley Shapely from Earth911, “the number of shampoo bottles thrown out in the United States every year and landing in landfills could fill 1,164 football fields”. That equals out to a line of 66.2 miles of non recycled plastics every single year. All it takes to keep these bottles out of the environment is a little awareness that you actually can recycle these plastic bottles and taking action.
The process to recycle them couldn’t be easier. Just a quick rinse of the inside of the bottle and into the plastics recycling bin it goes! With everyone recycling all of these plastic bottles, we can work towards keeping our oceans plastic free and sea life healthy!
