Did you know algae is actually a living creature, not a plant? There are many types of algae! Some are tiny, microscopic Benthic Diatoms that grow abundantly and are attributed to the dense biomass of a coral reef. Other algae can look like leaves with appendages up to several feet long! These algaes, along with seaweeds and planktons, thrive on coral reefs and provide food for the abundant amount of fish.
