Did you know some coral reefs are THOUSANDS of years old?! Although they only take up 1% of the ocean floor, our coral reefs provide 25% of marine life a place to live.  There are three different types of coral reefs, each of which needs sunlight to survive.  Other than housing, these ecosystems give back to our planet by cleaning the water and preventing global warming through the carbon dioxide they produce.  This week, you can do your part in protecting the coral reefs by recycling your trash at the beach!
